Rangers International Football Club of Enugu Wednesday at the Sani Abacha Stadium Kano, qualified for the final of 2018 AIETO Cup (Challenge Cup) by humbling their rival Nasarawa United Football club of Nasarawa by 4 goals to 2 in a Semi -final match.
Nasarawa was leading with early goals scored by Nojeem Olukokun in 3rd minutes and 27th minutes into the first half but the “Never say die” spirit in the “Gburugburu boys” played with them throughout the match. In 44th minutes Ugonna Uzochukwu broke into the opponents making it 2 goals to 1.
In the second half, Ugochukwu Ugwuoke aka Kanda scored the Rangers equalising goal at the 69th minutes. With the equal goals now, Rangers dominated the field and Rangers would be 3rd goal was disallowed by the Referee citing off side.
Ugonna Uzochukwu later headed in the 3rd goal in 71st minutes.
The 4th and the final goal came from a straight shot from a substitute Ajani Ibrahim in 79th minuites, though their was a deflection from a Nasarraw player that helped the ball dangle properly at the net of the opponent.
Meanwhile at the Lagos centre (where Rangers was to play but later rescheduled for Kano), Kano Pillars defeated their Katsina United counterpart in a penalty after a 2 all draw in 90 minutes to qualify to play with the Rangers International Football Club of Enugu at the finals scheduled for Sampson Siasia Stadium Asaba on 24th of this month.
Rangers is at the verge of lifting the AIETO CUP 2018.
