Architects tasked on International best practice
The Alumni Association, Department of Architecture, Enugu State University of Science And Technology, ESUT has expressed commitment towards repositioning the profession to attain international best practice.
The association stated this over the weekend at its 6th annual reunion convention of the held in Enugu with the theme: Strategies for Surviving Turbulent Economy.
The patron of the Alumni association Emmanuel Omatsone expressed satisfaction on the event challenged the members to build stronger partnership to ensure speedy growth and sustainability of the profession, as well as to make indelible mark to their alma mater.
A guest lecturer,Chudi Agbogu in a paper presentation tagged “Architecture and Politics: Opportunities for Young Architect”, advocate strongerparticipation of the members in governance to effect the change needed in policy formulation. Track up
In a presentation on “Materials Nouveau and Use: Paradigm for Successful Practices, Lawrence Isuofia, whileanalysing the various components, properties and behaviours of prospective building materials in use, urged them to acquaint themselves with deep knowledge to achieve their desired goals.
In an interview, the national president of the union, Emmanuel Eduzor said achieving their target requires collective will and wisdom of all members.
The event which attracted members within and outside the state including the current head of the department also featured presentation of award to some deserving members of the society for their numerous contributions to the sector.
Apart from reconnecting for socialisation, the group also used the platform to showcase different locally made sophisticated building materials such as blocks, ceiling materials, handrails, and paintings among others.
