The 82 Division of the Nigerian Army has commenced a five day operations planning cadre for personnel of the division in line with the Nigerian Army forecast of events.
Forty-Nine personnel drawn from various units under Headquarters of the 82 Division, the 82 Division Garrison Command, 13 brigade Calabar, 14 brigade ohawfia and 34 artillery brigade owerri are participating at the 2020 operations planning cadre with a view to improve their skills and techniques in joint and single service operations planning process in order to better understand and effectively tackle contemporary security challenges within the division’s areas of responsibility.
Speaking while inaugurating the operations cadre, General Officer Commanding 82 Division, Maj Gen. Lasisi Adegboye said the operations planning cadre is one of the training events in the Nigerian Army schedule of activities aimed at capacity building for officers of the Division.
Major General Adegboye disclosed that the Cadre is an annual event in the Division’s Training Calendar designed to enhance the operational planning skills of officers in the Division to enable them conform to best global practices in planning joint and single Service operations.
The 82 Division GOC who frowned at absenteeism in the course of the training advised the personnel to participate effectively through meaningful contributions during the interactive sessions and group tactical exercise that will culminate in group presentations.
“The Cadre is an annual event in the Division’s Training Calendar designed to enhance the operational planning skills of officers in the Division to enable them conform to best global practices in planning joint and single Service operations”.
“This year’s cadre is also intended to create avenue for subalterns and majors in the Division and their equivalent in sister Services of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to get acquainted with the planning process in the Nigerian Army. It is hoped that they would find this opportunity useful and beneficial.
“As officers who are directly involved in operational planning in your various formations/units or Service, you are the main drivers of the Armed Forces of Nigeria’s effort at responding to the current security challenges facing the nation.
“Therefore, your selection to participate in this event is not by accident. This forum provides one of the suitable platforms to jointly revise and update your operational planning skills in order to realize the noble vision of the COAS. I therefore, enjoin you all to approach this cadre with all seriousness it deserves.
“It is pertinent to mention that the topics in the training programme for the cadre have been carefully selected for presentation by experienced senior officers of the Nigerian Army who have had the unique privilege to learn and teach Manoeuvrist Approach to Warfare in the prestigious Armed Forces Command and Staff College Jaji.
“Participants will therefore be expected to brainstorm in syndicates on tactical exercises on estimate process and make group presentations to round-off the cadre.
“I am optimistic that this cadre will be a rewarding experience judging from the topics and the calibre of resource persons invited to conduct the exercise. You should therefore, look forward to a most educative and professionally rewarding cadre.
“At this juncture, I wish to convey the sincere gratitude of the Division to the COAS for his uncommon generosity in providing the resources to conduct the operational planning cadre in the face of competing demands on scarce resources of the Nigerian Army.

“Absenteeism without cogent reasons and excuses during the period of the cadre will not be condoned. I enjoin you all to also participate effectively through meaningful contributions during the interactive sessions and group tactical exercise that will culminate in group presentations.

At the end of Operations Planning Cadre which will be concluded on Friday 6th this month participants would be equipped with operational planning skills which will help in realizing the noble vision of the Chief of Army Staff of a professionally responsive.
