COVlD 19 PANDEMIC: ECCIMA, Nestle PLC, Procter and Gamble Donate Palliatives to Enugu Govt.

The Enugu Chamber of Commerce lndustry Mines and Agriculture (ECClMA), Nestle Nigeria PLC, Procter and Gamble Nigeria LTD, on Monday at the State Government house Enugu presented items worth millions naira to the Enugu State government to assist it giving succour to the members of the public to cushion the effects of Corona virus on them.

Receiving the items on behalf of Governor lfeanyi Ugwuanyi, the Deputy Governor, Cecilia Ezeilo commended  the different groups for deeming it necessary to assist the vulnerable groups through the State government in the onerous task of checking the spread of COVlD 19 pandemic.


Mrs Ezeilo maintained that COVlD 19 has some attending challenges which Includes the lockdown adding that the malaise negatively affect the livelihood of people.

She said,’ on behalf of His Exellency, Right Honourable lfeanyi Ugwuanyi,the Governor of Enugu State,l most sincerely thank you people for coming to assist your brothers and sisters in this era of COVlD 19 pandemic, you have deemed it necessary to assist these vulnerable groups,l assure you that the things you donated will reach the targeted beneficiaries’.


Speaking while presenting the different items respectively to the State government,the first Vice President ECClMA, Barrister Jasper Nduagwuike said that the Organization was moved by the noble efforts of Governor lfeanyi Ugwuanyi towards checking the spread of Corona virus in the State.

Barrister Nduagwuike said that Governor Ugwuanyi since assuming office has demonstrated his passion in working with the private sector noting that the donations were part of their gesture in assisting the vulnerables in the state.



He said,’previously, while coming for this type of event,we hire a bus but now we have come with a bus donated to us by this administration, this shows that this shows that the present Government has the interest of the private sector at heart’.

Also speaking while presenting the Nestle items,the South East Manager of the Company,Mr Afolabi Adeyeye, said that the house hold items were aimed at assisting’families in this era of COVlD 19 pandemic’.


He informed that the items will enhance the livelihood of the beneficiaries and commended the State government for its bold steps against Corona Virus pandemic.

ln his own speech, the SPA to Governor Ugwuanyi on housing, Honourable lkenna Nwodo who facilitated the donation by Procter and Gamble Home Product Limited said that the Company in the fulfillment of its Corporate responsibility has decided to present the items to cushion the effects of Corona virus pandemic’.

He thanked the State government for its proactive steps and urged the people to abide by the rules and regulations governing Corona virus.


The items donated by the Organizations include rice, noodles, detergents, soap, sanitizers, and facemasks among others.
