Enugu govt partners CSDP on Rural Development

The Deputy Governor of Enugu State, Cecilia Ezeilo, has commended the National Agency for Community and Social Development Project and Enugu State Agency for the Community and Social Development Project for the various community projects they executed in Enugu State .
She gave the commendation on Friday, 21St August, 2020, when the Information and Communication Office team of the Federal Project Support Unit (FPSU) of the National Agency for Community and Social Development Project (CSDP) paid her a courtesy visit in Government House, Enugu.
She said, ” Your historic epoch making visit, no doubt, is in line with the development objective of the community and social development in Nigeria.
” In line with the state government predilection of seriousness and expensive engagement concerning World Bank and other partner assisted project, the agency in the state has been receiving the maximum support and mandate of the government in the conception and implementation of it’s project.
” Recently, the law establishing the agency in the state was repealed and re-enacted in order to reposition it and improve social economic life in the rural area of the state, ” she said.
The deputy governor noted that the framework under the new law would enable the agency to key into the World Bank standards for effective and efficient service delivery as well as discourage rural urban migration.
” I would like to assure the team that Enugu State will continue to partner CSDP agency in the state for the furtherance of it’s rural community and social development agenda, ” Ezeilo said.
She assured the team of the state government’s strict adherence to all the rules as defined by the a world bank for the projects funding and implementation.
Speaking, the Acting Manager (GM) of the Enugu State Community and Social Development Project (CSDP), Mr. Samuel Ezeugwu commended the Enugu State Governor, Rt. Hon.(Dr) Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for approving and releasing promptly , the counterpart fund for execution of community projects in the state.
He said that the Agency had spent the sum of
N2, 225, 812, 640.36k in execution of community projects in the state.
He stated that the agency spent N931.64m in CSDP phase one project and N879.2 million in CSDP phase two project.
He added that the Gross Domesticates Project (GDP) amounts to N415. 4m giving the total of N2, 225, 812, 640.36k.
The Acting General Manager said that the Agency is executing their project in seven local government councils of the state at the moment and may extend it to other local government areas.
Speaking, the National Coordinator of CSDP, Alhaji Abdukareem Obaje commended the Enugu State Government for it’s support to the Agency in the state.
His representative, Abubakar Yusuf said that the members of the CSDP from national had been on two weeks tour to the South East in monitoring and assessment of its CSDP projects.
” It may interest you to know that, we have been in South East for two weeks and we are satisfied with the project we see on ground so far.
” The project is world bank sponsored meant for the rural development and Enugu is one of the states that have utilised it’s fund for the development project.
He said that they monitored the projects and were satisfied with what they saw on ground, urging the Enugu State government to do more.
