Enugu State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Anthony Ugochukwu, has urged health workers in the state to discharge their duty effectively so as to save lives and to be ranked among the best in the country.
This is contained in a statement issued at the weekend in Enugu, by the state Ministry of Health, Public Relations Officer, Mrs Uzoamaka Ekoh.
“The healthcare of the people is paramount, therefore, workers should put in their best to safeguard the lives of the citizens at their various facilities.
“The healthcare of the people is one of Gov. Ifeanyi Uguanyi’s visions and it is paramount, optimal and must be queued into.
“Moreover, the governor wants Enugu state to be one of the best in healthcare service delivery in the country.
“With the help of standardised and modern equipment bought by the governors in various general and district hospitals, workers should effectively put them to use for life saving purposes,” Ekoh quoted Ugochukwu as saying.
The ministry spokesperson said tha the commissioner called on all health workers in the state to work as a team with one purpose to be able to achieve their set goals.
She said that he also urged them to obey the constituted authorities and respect the civil service rules and regulations as they shun absenteeism and lateness to work.
Dr Ifeanyi Agujiobi, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry reminded the staff on how important it was to obey the ministry’s rules and regulations.
He also assured the staff of the ministry of their welfare.
