A bill that will grant the Enugu State House of Assembly financial independence has been passed.
The bill for a law which seeks to provide for the management of the state legislative funds scaled through the third reading after the House received a report from the Joint Committee on Rules and Business, Public Accounts and Anti-Corruption.
Presenting the report, the chairman of the Joint Committee and the leader of the House, Ikechukwu Ezugwu said, after several meetings, the committee carried out in-depth study and scrutiny of the bill and came up with a number of recommendations in several sections.
The House accepted the report and immediately considered it alongside the original bill after resolving itself into committee of the whole house.
It could be recalled that the Speaker, Edward Ubosi on November 6th 2018 setup a joint committee to scrutinize the bill and report back to the House after it scaled through the first and second reading.
