ENUGU LG POLLS: Group alleges irregularities

Enugu LG polls marred with gross irregularities – Coal CityYouths Development initiative.

An Enugu based renowned Youth advocacy movement COAL CITY YOUTHS DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE has rejected the outcome of the 2020 local government elections conducted in the state on Saturday, on the groundswell of electoral fraud and irregularities.

Reacting to the result declared by the Enugu state Independent Electoral Commission ENSIEC, which declared PDP candidates winner in all the local government areas and Councillorship positions in the state, the Director General of the group *Comrade Johnpaul Anih* maintained that the Elections was marred by gross irregularities, electoral manipulations of this different colourations and inherent contradiction in results announced and as such cannot accept the outcome of the election.

*Comrade Anih* threatened that ENSIEC should be ready to see them in court.
He alleged that the process was interfered by increasing the vote share of the favored party and depressing the votes of the rival political parties.


” We will not accept the result of this election. ENSIEC worked for PDP and recruited the party members as observers. There are so many contradictions in results announced because our members scattered across the 256 Electoral wards in the state monitored the process.

“We have video clips and pictures of where PDP was sharing money, coke and okpa to induce the Electorates. I have instructed our Legal Team to file a suit against the Commission”



“The results were not carefully collated as some figures were manufactured” he concluded

*Comrade Johnpaul Anih* maintained that while some result sheets were misplaced, voters were still accredited with card readers which is a grievious offense and asserted that ENSIEC was not meticulous in the collation of results throughout the entire exercise.


The over ninety members of the group while rejecting the outcome of the election at the ENSIEC headquarters Independence layout Enugu, called on other local and international organizations committed to promoting democracy to join them in the legal battle.

They further decried the one party system in the state which according to them has kept Ndi Enugu under the current perpetual political bondage.
