MDCAN Vows to Strengthen Primary Health Care in Rural Area

Over four hundred persons have benefited from the free medical outreach organized by the Medical and Dental Consultant Association of Nigeria, MDCAN, ESUTH, Parklane Chapter held at Orba Nsukka in Udenu local government area on weekend.

St. Jacob’s Catholic Parish Orba Nsukka in Udenu Council Area, venue of the event was filled to capacity as adults and children gathered to access the free medical services such as, basic health education, checking high-blood-pressure, eye screening, women were also screened in various health-related issues including cervical cancer, even as minor surgeries were conducted at ALGON comprehensive health center, Nkwo Orba Ajouna.

Some of the beneficiaries who expressed satisfaction on the exercise commended the team for bringing the free health care service to their community and promised to follow the guidelines given to them to ensure healthy living.

The chairman of Udenu local government, Frank Ugwu applauded the effort of the team in rendering free health services to his people and urged them to maintain the tempo.

The chairman of the association, Dr. Tochukwu Enebe expressed the group’s commitment to promoting healthy living, stating that the outreach among other things afforded the people opportunity to access core primary health services.

Also speaking, the Coordinator of the outreach, Dr. Awara Chinawa, who was excited with the outcome of the exercise, thanked god for the huge success.

The outreach which witnessed dispensing of drugs, distribution of mosquitoes nets to pregnant women and children under five year old is expected to play a critical role in improving the reach of health care to the community.
