The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has arrested 100 victims of a recruitment scam while on their way to Kaduna to participate in bogus NSCDC recruitment training and documentation.
Also apprehended was one Gabriel Kingsley, who allegedly recruited the participants, comprising pregnant and nursing women and young graduates.
Parading the victims and the suspect at the NSCDC headquarters in Abuja on Monday, the Corps Public Relations Officer, Olushola Odumosu, a Deputy Corps Commander, explained that the victims converged on the Kubwa General Hospital, Abuja, on Saturday, from where they took off to Kaduna in buses.
According to him, soft copies of appointment letters from different ministries and agencies were found in Kingsley’s phone.
Odumosu said the victims came from Ogun, Lagos, Ekiti and other states of the federation, adding that they confessed to paying thousands of naira to the suspect.
He stated, “More importantly also, the suspected mastermind, Mr Gabriel Kingsley, was also nabbed by the gallant female squad and brought back from Kaduna to the NSCDC national headquarters for further investigation and interrogation.”
