Over three hundred members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Enugu state have dumped the party for the Peoples Democratic Party.
The defectors were members of the freedom group under the all progressive congress drawn from the twenty wards in Oji river local government area of the state.
The youth leader of the APC in Oji River local government area who led members of the APC to the PDP Valentine Ejike said the decision to move to the ruling People’s Democratic Party in the state was because of the open door policy of the Ugwuanyi administration.
Oliver who is also the coordinator of the freedom group commended the transition committee chairman, Chief Mathew Madu for his achievements within the short time of his administration.
While receiving the defecting members at the Oji River council headquarters, PDP Chairman, Oji River, Godwin Aniekwe said it was a welcome development stressing that the defectors were not new to the Pdp as many of them were originally in the party.
Speaking on behalf of the transition chairman, Chief Mathew Madu, represented by his Deputy, Ella Ugomsi said the PDP umbrella is big enough to accommodate all that believe in its ideals.
