Police arrest four suspected cultists in Enugu


The Enugu State Police Command has arrested four suspected cultists for alleged unlawful possession of firearm at Agbogugu in Mbanabor community of Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State.


The State’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ebere Amaraizu, said in a statement made available to newsmen on Friday in Enugu that the suspects were apprehended on the 27th of December, 2019.


According to the police chief, the arrest was carried out by the Anti-Cult Unit of the command through intelligence information. Recovered from the suspects was one cut to size locally-made gun and one live cartridge.


The police spokesman said that the suspects included Okafor, 20; Stanley, 25; Okoye, 18, and Okeke, 34.


“The suspects were arrested on information following their cult activities where one member of Vikings confraternity group sustained axe cut inflicted on him by the arrested suspects,’’ he said.


Amaraizu said police operatives had commenced investigation on the matter.
