Promotion Exam: Army Warns Candidates to Shun Malpractice

The General Officer Commanding 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier-General Lasisi Adegboye has charged candidates for the Lieutenant to Captain practical promotion examination to shun acts capable of tarnishing their image or jeopardise their career in the military.

Brigadier-General Adegboye gave the charge in Enugu during the examination president’s joint address to candidates sitting for the examination scheduled to commence from Monday 10 to 15 February 2020.

Addressing the candidates, General Officer Commanding 82 Divisions tasked them to remain good ambassadors of their various corps and formations by conducting themselves with highest standard of discipline.

“Let me seize this unique opportunity to thank the Chief of Army Staff for finding this Division worthy to this very important exercise and more especially for providing the needed resources to host the event. I also want to congratulate the eligible candidates on their well-deserved nomination for this important career examination”.

According to him, “the examination represents an important milestone in your career progression as commissioned officers in the Nigerian Army”.

The GOC also warned against any form of examination malpractices which he said has grave implications.

Also, examination president and commander, training and doctrine command, Major-General Abubakar Tarfa noted that their career progression of the candidates in the military would be determined by their performance in the examination and advised them to take the exercise with all seriousness.

He disclosed that the examination will test candidates proficiency in tactics and low intensity conflict, map reading, communication, skills at arms proficiency test as well as driving and maintenance, administration in the field, French language and physical fitness.

“Like you all know, your success in this examination will be a milestone in your career. This success should however not be obtained through fraudulent means”.

“Therefore, you are to avoid acts capable of tarnishing your image or terminating your career prematuredly while on this examination”.

The Lieutenant to Captain practical promotion examination which is being hosted by the 82 division of the Nigerian army would among other objectives improve candidates knowledge on the military profession, test their physical fitness, stimulate competitive spirit among them, evaluating the intellectual ability of the candidates as well as improve on their knowledge and capability in the discharge of their professional duties.

Over 121 candidates are expected to participate in the promotion examination.
