Victims of the fire disaster that occurred at colliery quarters, Coal Camp Enugu have received relief materials from the Enugu State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, to alleviate their suffering.
The items received by the victims included food items such as bags of rice, beans, maize, tin tomatoes, and beverages.
Others are mattress, mats, bundle of zinc, bags of nails, as well as clothing materials.
Presenting the items to the victims, at the government house Enugu on Friday, the executive secretary, Enugu State Emergency Agency, SEMA, Nkechi Eneh described the fire incidence as unfortunate and thanked Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for prompt response.
She said the gesture was in line with the four point agenda of the present administration aimed at enhancing the welfare of its citizenry.
Eneh while thanking god that no life was lost during the incidence explained that the material distributed cannot be equated to the huge loss caused by the fire disaster.
The SEMA boss also called on the people to always be cautious and be mindful of how they use their electrical appliances especially this harmattan season to avoid loss of lives and property.
Responding, some of the victims, Evelyn Onoh, Nkechi Okonkwo and Aloysius Nkwuda commended Governor Ugwuanyi for his kind gesture and prayed god to bless his future ambition.
The visibly excited beneficiaries of the state government kind gesture demonstrated their appreciation by singing solidarity songs for Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
The fire which reportedly started early morning of Monday, 3rd December was said to have razed about three blocks in which thirty-eight households were affected and fifty persons displaced.
