UNIBEN Alumni Association seeks FG approval of New Minimum Wage

The UNIBEN Alumni Association has stressed the need for the federal government to ensure immediate approval of the new minimum wage to avert impending nationwide strike by labour unions in the country.

This was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the 95th council meeting of the association held in Enugu.


The 95th council meeting which preceded conferment of excellent achiever award to some deserving members of the association including the secretary to the Enugu state government, Gabriel Ajah attracted members from across the country and the Diaspora.

The communiqué jointly signed by the association’s President Word-Wide, Ifaleyi Isibor, and its Secretary –General Professor Myke Omoigberale charged the National Assembly and the executive to hasten effort at harmonising contending issues on the amendment of the electoral act.

UNIBEN Alumni Association commended the independent national electoral commission (INEC) for its readiness to conduct the 2019 general election, and charged political parties to ensure all aspirants were given a level playing ground.


Other members of the UNIBEN Alumni Association recognised with excellent achiever award at the event include a member of House of Representatives, Dennis Amadi , former council chairman ,Nkanu West, Ekene Okenwa , Vice-Chancellor, Enugu State University of Science And Technology ,ESUT , Professor Luke Anike and Ughochuku Agballa, a former governorship aspirant in Enugu state .


Speaking, the secretary to the state government Gabriel Ajah thanked the association for considering him worthy for the award and assured that the award would inspire him to contribute his quota to the advancement of the humanity.

Wife of the awardee, Anthonia Ajah said the award given to her husband was well–deserved and thanked the association for recognizing his positive contributions.


Some friends and associates of Gabriel Ajah at the event including commissioner for youths and sports , Joseph Udedi , chairman, Ezeagu local government area, Chukwudi Ezinwa extolled the SSG’S sterling qualities adding that the award conferred him demonstrated that he had made the UNIBEN alumni association proud.
